Technology invites us to do everything faster but in a hotel environment, empathy, and critical thinking are what is most needed on a daily basis when interacting with guest who are traveling from all around the world.  For those individuals who are visiting countries that they may have never been in before, creating a smooth transition from home to holiday becomes of the upmost importance in creating an excellent experience for our guests.  

Sure, we can check our guests in faster with a new programme, or anticipate needs with all the details stored in our CRM but in order to create great change critical thinking must be used when adopting new technology.  We must be especially mindful that as we are using it, we are questioning the output to ensure that it is in line with our values and goals. matter the most.

Critical Thinking for Leadership & Management

Leaders and managers use critical thinking every day in order to inspire individuals, delegate to teams and achieve organisational goals. In a hotel, the team must not only think about those who are arriving, but those who are departing, or those still in house celebrating their anniversaries or simply transiting through on a business trip.  Being able to adapt and anticipate the needs of a wide of individuals comes naturally to those who have studied human nature or been employed in the world of hospitality.  These skills, paired with critical thinking, invite the leaders of tomorrow to thrive in a range of industries as there is no service or product that is provided that is not impacted by the interactions had with the human behind what has been created.
