Discover the Episode: AIHM’s Approach to Building Future Talent

This past week Jeremy interviewed Chris Meylan, Chief Operating Officer of AIHM, and Samantha Marion, Director of Global Partnerships at AIHM, to discuss building a skilled, work-ready talent pipeline for the dynamic workplace of today. Together they examine how AIHM is shaping education and professional training to meet today’s fast-changing talent demands.

Chris describes AIHM’s rapid growth and modern learning model. When Chris joined the leadership team as the head of AIHM three years ago, the school was still very new:

“We started with 30 students and now… we’ve reached a total of 250 students. Up and high we go, and it goes with our motto which is always AIHM Higher’”.

Samantha highlights how AIHM’s unique campus—located inside a hotel—gives students early, practical exposure:

“We are the only hotel school in the world located inside an actual hotel. Our immersive learning environment and our campus is in the Avani+ Riverside Hotel and also right next to the Anantara Riverside Bangkok Resort. This proximity allows our students—our young professionals, as we call them—to work alongside industry experts and serve guests in a real hotel environment…from day one.”

This approach matters not only for students but also for employers seeking job-ready talent. As an academic institute, one of AIHM’s primary areas of research and expertise is generational transformations in the workplace and how to leverage and empower young talent. As Chris notes, organisations must now move from a “you’re lucky to work for me” mindset to “we’re lucky to have you, and we’ll build your career together.”

Listeners will hear how AIHM develops critical thinking, creativity, communication, collaboration, confidence and emotional intelligence—human skills every industry now prizes.

The discussion also touches on skills-based recruitment, the confidence gap many young professionals face, and how employers can build learning paths that retain talent.
