When I was young, I dreamed of a career that would take me around the world. Today, I’m looking out from my office to the Bangkok skyline. My specific ambitions have evolved over time, but the strong sense of ambition has stayed constant. Over the years, I’ve helmed an exquisite beachfront resort by the Andaman Sea, taught students at some of the world’s most elite hospitality management institutes, and helped steer these institutes and their graduates to success. As the Chief Operating Officer of Minor Education, I’m proud to now lead the Asian Institute of Hospitality Management (AIHM) and its students in helping to define the future of the hospitality industry. None of these career moves happened by chance. I took action to make them happen.

Developing teams and individuals is an ongoing process that thrives on clear communication, structured goals, and a supportive environment. By fostering collaboration, setting clear expectations, and creating space for growth, organisations can empower their people to succeed. Let’s explore key strategies to build stronger teams and more capable individuals.

The AIHM experience is a special one. As students, we come from a diversity of backgrounds and nationalities—while all sharing many of the same passions and goals. The Student Committee is devoted to fostering and ensuring this special experience for all of us. Together as a Committee, we work hard to enhance student wellbeing and develop a strong sense of community within AIHM.

AIHM’s students come from cities throughout Thailand and the world to reshape the future of the hospitality business. They pursue their own individual dreams. They work toward their goals. And, importantly, they learn the foundational skills for creating a sustainable impact on businesses and communities.

Let’s face it: higher education can be tough for anyone. But for students with Special Educational Needs (SEN), the challenges can feel like trying to climb Mount Everest with a backpack full of bricks. At AIHM, we’re all about helping our students lighten that load, so they can focus on what really matters—learning, growing and thriving.  

AIHM enjoys a stunning location with itsBangkok campus located right on the banks of the Chao Phraya River. By day, you can gaze out at the city skyline and observe the life of the river. Long-tail boats, ferries, shuttle boats and a variety of vessels cruise the water. At night, the skyline becomes an array of dazzling lights. AIHM’s Bangkok campus offers beautiful views every day of the year, but one night stands out as the most exceptional. 

When I look at the fantastic students here at AIHM, I see a unique opportunity to build something truly special—a close-knit community, a culture of collaboration and a welcoming home where everyone has a place. As one of the smallest higher education institutes in Bangkok, with fewer than 200 students, we’re in a rare position to shape a vibrant, lasting culture from the ground up, a space where every voice truly matters. And in such a bustling, cosmopolitan city like Bangkok, this kind of close connection is all the more valuable. 

The team of consultants gathered in the Situation Room. The hotel’s senior management awaited them with a problem. The two parties assembled to tackle the issue. The luxurious riverside property in the heart of Bangkok is an exceptional hotel in a market filled with exceptional hotels. How might the property elevate its suite experience to keep its position amongst the top of pack? 

Managers are made, not born. Certainly, each individual has their own innate strengths, but to reach their full potential and maximise their growth, people need mentors and teachers to guide them along the way. AIHM’s faculty work hard to unlock the potential within each and every student. AIHM lecturers help students develop the skills they need to succeed in the business world and to continue growing on their own paths after graduation.
