When I was young, I dreamed of a career that would take me around the world. Today, I’m looking out from my office to the Bangkok skyline. My specific ambitions have evolved over time, but the strong sense of ambition has stayed constant. Over the years, I’ve helmed an exquisite beachfront resort by the Andaman Sea, taught students at some of the world’s most elite hospitality management institutes, and helped steer these institutes and their graduates to success. As the Chief Operating Officer of Minor Education, I’m proud to now lead the Asian Institute of Hospitality Management (AIHM) and its students in helping to define the future of the hospitality industry. None of these career moves happened by chance. I took action to make them happen.

Developing teams and individuals is an ongoing process that thrives on clear communication, structured goals, and a supportive environment. By fostering collaboration, setting clear expectations, and creating space for growth, organisations can empower their people to succeed. On Saturday, 5 October 2024, several of our AIHM students made history. As they walked across the stage and took their degrees in hand, they achieved something no one else has accomplished before. Together, they became the inaugural cohort of students to earn aBachelor of Business Administrationin Global Hospitality Management from the Asian Institute of Hospitality Management in academic association with Les Roches. Congratulations to our first BBA graduates and their fellow graduates in the Certificate and Diploma tracks!

As the last semester drew to a close,Samantha Lauver-Marionsat down with four of AIHM’s graduating students as they completed their Bachelor of Business Administration in Global Hospitality Management. 

What were there favourite moments from their time at AIHM? How do they plan to benefit from their AIHM educations moving forward? What advice to they have for new students? Find out below. 

If you’re scared of heights, would you rush to the top of a ladder? An experienced construction worker or someone who cleans the windows of skyscrapers for a living would be happy to just hop on the ladder and zoom their way up to the top. They’re used to it. Climbing up to a lofty height is something they’ve done many times before. We can use this as a comparison to public speaking.

In June 2023, we officially launched AIHM’s Executive Education programme with the mission of “Empowering Asia’s Business Professionals to Achieve Excellence”.
