Sitting on the floor of Wat Bang Nam Chon Temple School a few weeks ago, surrounded by excited young students, I was brought back to my early school days. As the children threw themselves heart and soul into the activities, I gazed around the classroom and soaked up the sense of wonder.
What is ‘Practical Magic’? No, I’m not talking about the 1998 film starring Sandra Bullock and Nicole Kidman. I’m talking about the transformative power of Practical Arts studies in a hospitality education. The Practical Arts are a keystone of the world-famous Swiss-style hospitality education model.
Few careers in the world enable an amazing journey like a career in hospitality. Hospitality offers a platform for creating dream experiences, and its practitioners get to work in some of the most amazing settings in the world. So do AIHM’s interns.

“I am not confident.” “It is so difficult.” “I do not understand.” These are some of the most common sentences I hear when people talk about learning English.
I often ask people, “Do you speak English?”
“No, I do not,” comes the answer. My reply: “Well you just understood me and answered in English!”
