Could you give us a quick overview of what the ‘Finance for Non-Financier’ course teaches participants?
This course presents an overview of accounting and finance with an eye on the most important and most common financial concepts and tools that arise within a business context.
Those who are not operating specifically in a financial management role should find the course a helpful introduction to the main principles of financial and management accounting.
We’ll begin by ensuring that all participants have a strong core understanding of how financial accounting works. Once we’ve built up this foundation, we’ll proceed to develop your analytical skills. We will use percentages and ratios to be able to quickly assess the state of a business. You’ll learn how to use a Cost Volume Profit approach (a CVP or “break even” analysis) to assess short-term decisions. Following this, we’ll turn to long-term financial decisions and how to evaluate possibilities with regards to their feasibility and potential profitability.
Who will benefit most from the course?
- Ambitious professionals who only understand bits and pieces of financial management without fully understanding the big picture
- Anyone who lacks confidence when presenting or discussing topics involving numbers
What specific topics will the Finance for Non-Financiers training course cover?
Financial Accounting: How this works from Day 1 until the end of the financial year. This will ensure that participants have a holistic and clear understanding of the whole financial process.
Management Accounting: Analysing financial performance with a view to generating year-on- year improvements.
Basically, we’ll cover how a business tracks its finances and then move on to how to make smart financial decisions.
What might surprise those who attend this course?
We will be using materials that incorporate colour and physical action to be able to fully visualise the financial accounting process. This will ensure that we can fully harness our brain function to capture the different aspects of the accounting system. If you’ve always found numbers are not really your thing, you’ll be surprised at how this approach makes it so much easier!
You’ll be able to visualise the process when you are in meetings or discussions in the future, and you’ll find that you feel more comfortable and confident during those future professional scenarios.
